About The Position

Join our Counseling for School Success team as an Admissions Coordinator! Are you passionate about helping children and families access the support they need to succeed? As an Admissions Coordinator, you'll play an essential role in guiding students and families through the admissions process for Racker's Counseling for School Success program, a therapeutic partnership with OCM BOCES. In this role, you'll serve as the primary point of contact for school districts and families, responding to referral inquiries, maintaining accurate admissions records, communicating program availability with school district partners, scheduling intake appointments, and conducting intake interviews with families. You'll collect required consent forms, complete social histories, and ensure every family experiences a welcoming, organized, and compassionate admissions process. About the Program: Racker is expanding Day Treatment programs in partnership with Onondaga-Cortland-Madison (OCM) BOCES and the local school districts to help young people with emotional and behavioral needs. Students in the Day Treatment program receive comprehensive mental health services that are integrated into their academic program. Join our integrated team of providers including social workers, psychologists, a child psychiatrist, a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a medication coordinator. Our high level of staffing allows us to provide an intensive level of assessment, mental health support and skill building. We serve ages 5 – 21, from eight component school districts.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, LCSW preferred; if currently licensed as LMSW will be actively working toward attainment of LCSW or Master’s Degree in relevant mental health field with appropriate certification in the field of specialty.
  • Clinical counseling experience preferred.
  • Assessment and interviewing skills, organizational skills, written and oral skills.
  • Ability to function as a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding of the needs of children with social, emotional and behavioral problems and their families

Responsibilities

  • Respond to school district queries regarding potential referrals
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of admissions list
  • Communicate with Principal and Committee on Special Education (CSE) Chairpersons regarding program openings
  • Schedule intake interview with family, psychologist, and program staff
  • Conduct intake interview, collecting relevant consent forms and completing social history with parent
  • Contact and collect records from previous treatment providers
  • Facilitate post-intake meeting with intake team and program staff
  • Determine appropriateness of placement and identify classroom/counselor assignment
  • Coordinate attendance at CSE meetings
  • Disseminate relevant information to incoming student’s team and psychiatric staff
  • Facilitate Day Treatment admission meeting, including initial psychiatric diagnosis
  • Complete screening admission report with formulation of strengths and needs
