About The Position

The Admissions Application Review Specialist position is a seasonal, work-from-home, part-time, temporary role for the period of August 1, 2026, through January 31, 2027. Specialists are required to participate in paid online training sessions from August through early September and must be certified by training staff to holistically review undergraduate applications. After certification, hires must be available to work between 15 to 19 hours per week, starting mid-September 2026 through the end of January 2027, including holiday weeks, depending on work availability. Actual hours are not guaranteed and will vary. This position is non-benefits eligible. Specialists may not be the parent, guardian, or immediate family member of a junior or senior high school student. Concurrent volunteer or professional roles related to college recruiting and/or counseling on the undergraduate college admissions process are excluded. Applicants cannot reside in Colorado or outside the United States, nor be employed at another Texas state agency. All applicants are required to obtain a UT EID.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Strong organization and time management skills to ensure scheduled deadlines and expectations for the position are met
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion, as well as maintaining security and confidentiality, particularly in matters related to sensitive or confidential information, including student records, personnel, training & training materials, etc.
  • Proficient and comfortable with working independently on computers and with a variety of applications, including online file sharing, email for communication, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
  • Must be available to work between 15 to 19 hours per week starting mid-September 2026 through the end of January 2027, including during holiday weeks.
  • Must be available to participate in paid online training sessions scheduled August through early September.
  • Must be certified by training staff as adequately prepared to holistically review undergraduate applications.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate a high volume of applications for undergraduate admission using the University's online, individualized and comprehensive holistic review process in accordance with the Office of Admissions guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate subjective and objective information for each application, culminating in a holistic review score for an admissions recommendation.
  • Read a minimum of 5 applications per hour when enough work is available.
  • Consistently meet weekly application review expectations (approximately 75-120 files per week) from September 2025 through the end of January 2026.
  • Keep up-to-date with communications and any procedural or guideline changes that might impact application review.
  • Apply feedback and guidance provided about the holistic review process.
  • Maintain consistent and timely communication and interaction with application review coordinators and other staff as needed during the review process.
  • Actively participate in online training sessions and complete periodic application review tasks.
