About The Position

Admissions Ambassador student assistants serve the Office of Admissions as the first point of contact for both prospective students and current applicants. Students in this position respond to guests via our front desk, phone calls, email, and Service Now tickets. Admissions Ambassadors are led by the Client Relations Coordinator, who provides daily assignments and support to the student staff. Under direct supervision, Student Assistants perform duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized in a variety of positions that typically require manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skills. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. Specific job duties are defined by the appropriate campus department.

Requirements

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels.
  • Ability to read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Must be available to attend mandatory staff meetings every Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • Students eligible for Federal Work-Study (FWS) will receive priority consideration.
  • If eligible for Federal Work-Study after being hired, participation in the program is a condition of continued employment while they remain eligible.
  • Background check (including a criminal records check) must be satisfactorily completed.
  • Must perform CSU related work within the State of California.
