About The Position

Taking care of dependent persons is worthwhile to work. Serving others is a lifestyle choice and should not be entered into lightly. Contributing to the health and welfare of others can be draining at times, but at the same time can be truly rewarding. Being a caregiver is a dedicated occupation and is not like any other job. Purpose of this position:

1. The Administrator is responsible for the overall operation and functioning of the home. Rule 325.1921 (b) states that the Administrator shall “assure the home maintains an organized program to provide room and board, protection, supervision, assistance, and supervised personal care for its residents.”

2. Assure compliance with the home’s mission statement and program statement.
a. Our mission is to provide the highest quality care and service, in the safest way possible, within our financial limitations, to older adults who reside in our Homes for the Aged.
b. We desire to provide the assisted living home of choice for residents, and employer of choice for our personnel.

Requirements

• BA/BS in administration preferred, however, a combination of formal education and work experience will be considered.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Have education, training, and/or experience related to the population served by the home.
• Be capable of assuring program planning, development, and implementation of services to residents consistent with the home’s program statement and in accordance with the residents’ service plan and agreements.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, including innovative and critical thinking.
• Must be proficient in electronic communication and become familiar with the technology used in the living center – including ONSHIFT, ECP, EMAR, ATMOS, OUTLOOK, etc.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals: residents, family members, staff, community representatives, etc.

• Able to fulfill all essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations under the ADA.

Responsibilities

• Assure the home maintains an organized program to provide room and board, protection, supervision, assistance, and supervised personal care for its residents.
• Assure the availability of emergency medical care required by a resident.
• Overall responsibility for day-to-day operation of the home, assuring compliance with HPM Operations Policies and Procedures, Financial Policies and Procedures, Home for the Aged regulations – including Fire and Life Safety; ORBIS and Employee Handbook, and best practices for assisted living homes.
• Serves as the Privacy Official as the point of contact for HIPAA related issues and training.
• Performs regular inspections of kitchen, laundry rooms, boiler rooms, janitor closets, and other “out of the public eye” locations. Assure proper cleanliness and maintenance of these areas.
• Assures adequate staffing – including, but not limited to adequate number of people, with skills and competencies, properly assigned throughout the house to assure resident needs are met in a timely and proper manner.
• Community relations including outreach marketing to achieve and maintain occupancy within budget expectations.
• Responsible for holding all personnel accountable for their individual roles and responsibilities within the house. The Administrator is ultimately accountable for compliance with all requirements of operating this assisted living center.
• Meet regularly with Department managers: individually and collectively at least weekly. Lead daily “huddles” or “stand up meetings” such as “10 at 10” (10 minutes, at 10:00 AM) to encourage open and clear communication.
• Timely and appropriate communication of incidents, events, concerns and challenges to Corporate Team member(s), Licensing Consultant, ORBIS personnel, and Resident family members/authorized representatives.
• Responsible for financial controls – direct and delegated: Assure Timely collection and deposit of accounts receivable, Expenditures within budgeted guidelines, Occupancy within budgeted guidelines, maintain at 96% or greater, Timely assessments and accurate fee for service charges.
• Assure Timely recognition of employee performance: Reviews – both 90 day and annual, Coaching, counseling and further disciplinary action, Appreciation and positive recognition of performance and service.
• ON-CALL and responsible for overall operations of the ALC 24/7.
• Communication with ORBIS, Worker’s Comp, as needed.
• Assure prompt, positive customer service.
• Assure building is maintained to HPM standards – in and out.
• Manager on Duty rotation.
• Comply with Life Safety policies and participates in periodic drills.
• Participate in educational and training opportunities.
• Report safety and health hazards to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Report any observed concerns or changes in a resident to the Shift Supervisor.
• Treats all residents with dignity, respect and compassion.
• A good will ambassador for this assisted living center.
• Reports to work on-time, as scheduled.
• Works cooperatively with all personnel associated with this assisted living center.
• Complies with rules of Resident Rights.
• Complies with HIPAA Privacy rules.
• Complies with the guidelines of the Employee Handbook for this assisted living center.
• Follows Universal Precautions and good infection control practices.

• Eligible for 2% increase in pay rate after 90 days of employment with a satisfactory review.
• Annual increase in pay rate is merit based, as determined by a comprehensive, written performance review conducted by the Director of Operations and Corporate Team members.
