About The Position

The Virginia Department of Health Professions (DHP) mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public. This position provides administrative support to the discipline, licensing, compliance, and inspections functions of the Boards of Funeral Directors and Embalmers, Physical Therapy, and Long-Term Care Administrators. Supportive duties include, but are not limited to, scanning, uploading, and maintaining electronic case files, preparing and mailing notices and correspondence related to disciplinary cases, inspections and compliance, monitoring and tracking the receipt of inspection related documentation, updating online data and tracking systems on a regular basis, providing administrative licensing support to the boards, and assisting with board meeting and hearing preparation and setup. This position may be considered for telework on a limited basis following 6 months of successful employment. Approval to telework is at the discretion of the supervisor and is not guaranteed.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, pay close attention to detail, and complete assigned tasks within established timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, track and prioritize workflow in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented environment.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with supervisors, colleagues, licensees, and members of the public, including the ability to prepare routine and official correspondence, written assignments, and reports.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Considerable knowledge of general office processes and procedures, including file maintenance.
  • Considerable experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and data entry.

  • Previous experience in a legal, business, or regulatory office environment is preferred.
