The Administrative Specialist III is responsible for working with the Administrative Support Supervisor on coordinating office activities for the Department of Sociology and Criminology. The Administrative Specialist III assists with entering course schedules and maintains current information on faculty teaching schedules, classroom locations, and hours to assist callers and visitors. Upon request, this position collects and shares information for the Chair, vice-chair, and program directors of the Department. This position assists the supervisor by maintaining the appointment/conference room calendar. The Administrative Specialist III works with the Administrative Support Supervisor to enter purchasing information, to organize and communicate about departmental functions and events (e.g. venue reservations, hotel, flight, restaurant reservations), and to assist with making catering arrangements. The Administrative Specialist III coordinates and maintains the departmental webpage and assists the chair in the preparation of the departmental display and newsletter. This position provides information, assistance, and clarifications to interested parties concerning programs and procedures. This position researches and analyzes data pertinent to finances, work programs and/or agency/institution goals and objectives and prepares reports explaining findings and recommendations. The Administrative Specialist will perform other duties as assigned by the Chair and Administrative Support Supervisor. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
