About The Position

The Ministry of Children and Family Services funds programs and services to support vulnerable children, youth, families, and individuals to live safely and succeed in Alberta. This includes providing services and resources to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect and effectively address harm that has placed them in need of intervention. Mentoring and support services are available to youth transitioning into healthy, productive adults. The ministry also invests in community-based groups that support prevention and early intervention services such as Family Resource Networks, youth emergency shelters as well as programs that raise awareness and help respond to family violence, sexual violence, and abuse. The Ministry of Children and Family Services – North Region is looking for a collaborative and motivated individual to take on the vital role of Administrative Supervisor. In this key position, you will contribute to the success of financial operations and administrative functions across diverse child intervention programs while fostering growth and development within your team. Reporting to the administrative team lead, the administrative supervisor will be at the centre of a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment that relies on oversight, sound judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and seamless coordination of work. The position will support not only a team of administrative professionals but, collectively, this work addresses the administrative needs of child intervention practitioners, supervisors, and managers in alignment with accepted administrative timelines, policies, and procedures. Your focus will be to provide leadership and guidance to a team of administrative professionals across multiple sites and ensure efficient operation of the team’s workflow, through mentorship, training, and promoting staff development. You will be responsible for financial oversight of multiple child intervention programs and services in compliance with existing provincial and regional financial policies and procedures, as well as providing technical and support services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Three years of related experience
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Access to a reliable vehicle
  • Regular onsite visits are a requirement of this position

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft office and M365 products.
  • Familiarity with Ministry financial programs and IT systems such as 1GX and Bernie.
  • Extensive knowledge in all aspects of budget, financial planning and monitoring.
  • Extensive Expenditure Officer Authority knowledge to accommodate worksite and/or client expenses
  • Supervisory experience in an administrative role
  • In-depth knowledge of HR practices and procedures (training and onboarding new staff)
  • In-depth working knowledge of the Ministry information and financial payment systems including but not limited to: CYFS, CMAS, CICIO, BERNIE, 1GX, Concur, EPS and CYIM
  • Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act
