About The Position

The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet advances education, workforce development, and economic opportunity across the Commonwealth. The Cabinet provides education and training programs, employment and reemployment services, unemployment insurance, and disability determination services to help Kentuckians gain skills, find work, and maintain economic stability. It partners with education providers, workforce boards, and employers to align training with labor market needs and oversees labor programs that promote fair and safe workplaces. The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation empowers individuals with disabilities to maximize employment, achieve economic self-sufficiency and independence, and to contribute back to society. We also help businesses and employers recruit, retain and accommodate employees with disabilities. We are seeking an Administrative Section Supervisor to provide direct supervision over dormitory employees within the Consumer Services Section of the Charles McDowell Rehabilitation Center.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of professional administrative experience.
  • A master's degree in public or business administration or a related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Additional administrative, business or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all dormitory operations to ensure facilities are clean, fully prepared for student occupancy, and maintained in a safe and operationally ready condition.
  • Manage vendor services for scheduled term cleanings and coordinate procurement and inventory of supplies to ensure the ongoing needs of staff and students are consistently met.
  • Manage dormitory staffing operations by recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising staff across all shifts to ensure appropriate coverage and effective daily operations.
  • Conduct staff meetings, provide ongoing coaching and training, and support employee performance and professional development.
  • Serve as a member of the leadership team by participating in meetings and committees focused on quality assurance, safety initiatives, program development, regulatory compliance, and continuous operational improvement.
  • Review and monitor shift reports to communicate operational updates and concerns to leadership during daily stand-up meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and OVR program requirements, and assist with the development, revision, and implementation of policies, procedures, and staff handbooks.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for student, staff, and dormitory issues, including emergencies.
  • Participate in student meetings, serve in the on-call rotation, provide staff supervision and shift coverage as needed, and oversee facility operations in the absence of the Facility Administrator.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
