About The Position

The School of Nursing (SON) at the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions is seeking to hire a temporary Administrative Specialist. This role will provide essential administrative support within the School of Nursing, contributing to the smooth operation of meetings, events, and various administrative tasks. The position is located in downtown Atlanta on the urban campus of Georgia State University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience; or a high school or GED and six years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for meeting requests and oversight of calendars for the Associate Dean and department chairs.
  • Creates meeting agendas, keeps attendance records, and records minutes.
  • Transcribes and prepares accurate minutes for meetings, ensuring timely distribution and proper documentation.
  • Plans, monitors, and generates special reports, which may involve research and data collection based on specific project requirements.
  • Support grant and report preparation through research, information gathering, and presentation development.
  • Coordinates events for Unit Heads, including Directors Meeting, Advisory Board Meeting, Faculty Meeting, End-of-Year Faculty and Staff Meeting, Clinical Partnership Meetings.
  • Provides administrative support for the Pinning Ceremony, Honors Day, faculty retreats, academic symposiums, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Assists with travel coordination including travel authorizations and submitting expense reports.
  • Coordinates room reservations.
  • Organizes catering for meetings and events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
