About The Position

The National Institute for Student Success (NISS) helps universities identify and remove barriers to student success through three core services: the Accelerator, the Diagnostic and Implementation Support. In addition to these direct client services, the NISS Instructor supports continued research and development of innovative best practices in student success. National Institute for Student Success at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a part-time Administrative Specialist (Temp). WHAT MAKES GSU A GREAT PLACE? WHAT WILL YOU DO: The Administrative Specialist (Temp) provides part-time administrative and operational support to the National Institute for Student Success’ grant management team. This position assists with post-award activities, documentation management, and coordination with campus partners and external institutions. Work involves handling sensitive information, managing multiple priorities, and supporting the operational needs of a fast-paced grant-funded environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting grant-funded projects or working in higher education.
  • Demonstrated administrative, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and digital file management.
  • Knowledge of GSU systems such as PantherMart, Spectrum, or Sponsored Projects workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail demonstrated due diligence in reviewing documentation and verifying information.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills, including the ability to identify discrepancies, research solutions, and escalate appropriately.
  • Proven ability to follow through on tasks, manage outstanding items, and ensure timely resolution of issues.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation for active grants and sub-awards.
  • Assist with processing grant-related financial transactions, including, but not limited to, cost transfers and sponsored account close-out.
  • Track sponsor account expenditures and support budget monitoring activities.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, and manage communication.
  • Organize digital files and maintain shared drive structures.
  • Assist with data collection for internal reporting and donor submissions.
  • Serve as an administrative liaison to internal GSU offices (e.g., Sponsored Projects, PantherMart, finance units) and external partners.
  • Assist with the review, approval, and routing of consulting agreements.
