Requirements

  • Demonstrated customer service experience with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to shifting priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple systems and databases used for CDL processing and compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on accuracy and quality of work.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, agencies, and the public.
  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
  • Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply federal and state CDL laws, regulations, and departmental policies governing the issuance, suspension, revocation, and reinstatement of commercial driver licenses.
  • Independently review and update driver records to ensure compliance with Kentucky statutes and federal CDL regulations, including CDLIS and NDR systems.
  • Provide professional administrative support in developing, implementing, and maintaining complex CDL programs, projects, and compliance activities.
  • Analyze and resolve record discrepancies, conduct compliance reviews (e.g., 10-year history, exemptions, status changes), and ensure accuracy of licensing actions.
  • Deliver high-level customer service and guidance to the public and partner agencies, interpreting CDL requirements and managing inquiries through tracking systems.
  • Train staff and support operational efficiency by researching system issues, correcting errors, validating reports, and ensuring accuracy of official communications.
