About The Position

The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet is seeking a reliable, self-motivated individual to serve in a full-time Administrative Specialist Senior role within the Workforce Development Legal Division, Office of Legal Services. This position provides administrative support to attorneys who offer a variety of legal services, including legal support for Cabinet programs, contract review, processing Kentucky Open Records Act requests, and defending administrative appeal matters for the Education and Labor Cabinet. The role is based in Franklin County, with the potential for telecommuting up to two days per week after a successful probationary period. The successful candidate will handle confidential and sensitive information and must ensure its safeguarding and security.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
  • Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers and research information from the Office of Unemployment Insurance for complex foreclosure actions where a cross-claim will be asserted.
  • Contacts opposing counsel to confirm lien information and claimant information.
  • Based on information gathered, determines appropriate language for Answer to Foreclosure memo, and drafts complex responses for attorney review.
  • Respond to inquiries from attorneys and members of the public, including individuals requesting lien payoff information and instructions for payoff process.
  • Reviews new bankruptcy information and creates files.
  • Tracts and sends calendar deadlines to file Proof of Claims and completes Proof of Claims in bankruptcy cases for individuals that owe unemployment insurance overpayments.
  • Maintains division information on the shared drive, drafts correspondence and other documents upon request from attorneys, assists with Open Records Requests, provides other administrative support to attorneys, open/closes cases, and maintains reports of open/closed cases.
  • Assists with archiving files to be sent to the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives.
