This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center, 250 Dewey Ave, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Under limited supervision, performs a variety of duties involved in vacation and sick leave coverage for the support staff. Provide lunch and break relief when necessary. This employee must take initiative to learn job duties and recognize when assistance is necessary. Must be willing to contribute whenever and wherever necessary. All duties are handled in a culturally sensitive manner. Follows all SAMHC and DoFS policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma.
  • Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary backup for all receptionist windows, switchboard, and Continuity of Care Secretary.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on all safety codes.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal Corporate Compliance laws and SAMHC Policies and Procedures.
  • Performs a variety of office duties involved in the prior authorization process for medications using third party pay source.
  • Seek guidance from MD or nurses as necessary.
  • Ensure all approval or denials are documented in the patient's file using the EMR system as well as logged on the sheet.
  • Notifies clients or case managers as necessary of any problems and works to alleviate these problems.
  • Work the in touch rescheduling report and sends the information to the appropriate admin staff for rescheduling purposes in the event the primary admin is absent.
  • Assist with verifying cash drawers daily and completing daily deposits and transmittals.
  • Follow all DoFS policies and procedures.
  • Assist with writing of appointment letter, follow-up letters, verifying Medicaid eligibility and scanning client information into EMR.
