About The Position

This is a temporary position within the Project Management Unit, which is a high performing unit of Project Managers responsible for delivering high quality and innovative projects to the citizens of North Carolina. This unit is responsible for the preconstruction phase of Transportation highway projects. The role requires an organized and detail-orientated Administrative Specialist II skilled in managing and prioritizing multiple tasks efficiently. The position supports the human resources needs of the unit, processes invoices, handles sensitive information, provides administrative support, answers employee inquiries about HR items, policies, benefits, travel, and expenses, and assists with setting up contracts with Private Engineering Firms. The role also involves maintaining accurate reports for management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience utilizing office administration skills associated with organizing meetings, managing confidential documents, and organizing and prioritizing work to accurately complete tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Experience communicating Human Resource laws and policies, benefits, and processes in response to Unit management and staff’s inquiries.
  • Experience consistently producing error-free work by reviewing work for errors, verifying data entries, and ensuring all required details are captured and handled properly.
  • Experience creating purchase orders and processing invoices.
