About The Position

The North Carolina Early Intervention Branch (NCEI) is a part of the N.C. Division of Public Health. It is the lead agency for the N.C. Infant-Toddler Program (ITP), which provides supports and services for families and their children, birth to three who have developmental delays and/or disabilities. The Children's Developmental Services Agencies (CDSAs), the local lead agencies that implement the ITP across North Carolina, work with local service providers to help families help their children succeed. This position serves as a billing reimbursement specialist for the Sandhills CDSA for the Sandhills Children’s Developmental Services Agency. This position involves a variety of administrative functions that allow the CDSA to maximize agency revenues through reimbursement for services. The majority of time is allocated to tasks that involve multiple, complex steps and require the selection of the most appropriate action within procedural and operational guidelines. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to, verifying data, report writing, summarizing and reconciling information or financial data, records management, claims review and processing, data collection and analysis, research, inventory, human resources administration, and fund collection or expenditures. Positions may also supervise staff. This position provides administrative and clinical support to the CDSA staff by performing such duties as data entry and billing, word processing forms and letters, managing client records, and office equipment operations. This position will interact with parents, other professional and business personnel, and medical and specialized therapists both in person and by phone.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to complete HFCA 1500 for medical billing.
  • Ability to bill medical services manually and electronically.
  • Ability to verify patients’ insurance coverage with outside agencies.
  • Ability to compile, assimilate and organize both printed and electronic information.
