About The Position

The Department of Public Safety's mission is to safeguard and preserve the lives and property of the people of North Carolina through preparation, prevention, and protection with integrity and honor. Our agency houses many public safety divisions, including Emergency Management, Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Alcohol Law Enforcement, Samarcand Training Academy, and the North Carolina National Guard. Join us along with our more than 3,000 employees and 12,000 National Guard members in providing exceptional public safety services to the citizens of North Carolina. The position serves as a point of contact for the Director of Court Services and the Court Services Administrator. Represents the Director of Court Services and staff as a designated point of contact in order to enable the Director and staff a seamless point of communication and information dissemination. Contact may include but is not limited to internal and external individuals representing all facets of the public, state and local government, and juvenile justice fields. Contact may be in the form of phone calls, face-to-face meetings, written, or email correspondence. Action may be in the form of written (email responses, memos, letters) or verbal communication (phone calls, meetings, etc.).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong office management and/or administrative skills
  • Knowledge of business processes, records management, and/or personnel procedures
  • Working understanding of budgeting and/or basic accounting
  • Experience in establishing working relationships with associates, officials and/or the public.
  • Knowledge of Beacon, e-procurement, NCAS, e-billing, NC-JOIN, and/or other data web based systems

Responsibilities

  • General correspondence
  • Providing administrative support to budget, fiscal, committees and project tracking within Court Services
  • Schedule management, records management, events coordination and file maintenance.
  • Position requires a high level of accuracy in office organization and records keeping, budget and fiscal reporting, and supporting special projects and programs.
  • Position is privileged to confidential and highly sensitive information requiring the use of good judgment and discretion with such information.
