About The Position

This is a temporary position located at 3001 Terminal Drive, Raleigh - Wake County with the Department of Revenue. The Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) aims to provide a solid Human Resource management foundation, responsible oversight, and creative solutions through a collaborative approach with all stakeholders to maximize the potential of our greatest asset – OUR EMPLOYEES. Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Educating and enforcing compliance with motor carrier, alcohol and motor fuels tax laws, rules, procedures, and regulations
  • Answer general questions from taxpayers and representatives regarding issues relating to filing reports, making payment, notices received, account balances and tax laws
  • Requires detail-oriented person able to exercise judgment in analysis of taxpayer's accounts
  • Must keep current with tax return and law changes
  • Strong verbal communication skills are essential to effectively assist and educate taxpayers
  • Ability to demonstrate courteous, professional, and efficient behavior while dealing with controversial matters and irate customers
  • Ability to use Department of Revenue mainframe computer systems and work in multiple computer systems
