About The Position

The Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) oversees grant and contract programs that assist partner organizations in delivering services across Vermont, focusing on housing, homelessness, and the state's Weatherization Assistance Program. OEO is part of the Department for Children and Families (DCF), a large department within the state of Vermont. This temporary position, approved through June 30, 2027, with potential for annual reviews, aims to increase administrative capacity. The role is based in the Waterbury State Office Complex and offers a hybrid schedule, with one day per week in the office. The primary function is to support the administrative operations of the office. Ideal candidates will demonstrate empathy, familiarity with anti-poverty programs, attention to detail, collaborative problem-solving skills, exceptional communication abilities, and proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Suite and Adobe products, with the capacity to learn new platforms.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.
  • OR One year of full-time college level study in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND two (2) years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.
  • OR Two years of full-time college level study OR an associate's degree or higher in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND one (1) year or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.
  • OR Three years or more of full-time college level study OR a bachelor's degree in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field.
  • OR One (1) year or more of experience as an Administrative Services Coordinator I with the State of Vermont.
  • Administrative work experience is qualifying.
  • Administrative support includes functions such as accounting, budget management, grant administration, finance, human resources, payroll, purchasing, or space management.
  • Pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
  • Candidates must pass Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate (with exceptions for current classified state employees or those exercising re-employment rights).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with anti-poverty programs.
  • Experience working with the VISION system (State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required for some positions.
