About The Position

The overall purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the new PhD program and existing MS program and to serve as the primary point of contact for graduate student inquiries and issues. Responsibilities include coordinating recruitment activities and logistics of visiting students, tracking multi-year student progress through various milestones, processing application materials to match students with a faculty mentor, managing financial and other records for teaching and research assistantships, processing graduate student stipends and tuition waivers, research-related purchasing and grant management, coordinating qualifying examinations and dissertation defenses, maintaining program records for accreditation and assessment, and managing data for federal reporting requirements. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience in a clerical or secretarial position, including bookkeeping and/or accounting duties for at least part of that time.
  • Proficiency in standard office programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to learn new computer skills, particularly those related to purchasing and accounting software used by Tennessee Tech.
  • Ability to interact professionally with faculty, staff, students, and external vendors.
  • Ability to manage a wide variety of responsibilities efficiently and independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • More than two years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruitment efforts, tracking student progress, processing applications, processing and managing graduate student financial records, research-related purchasing and grant management, coordinating student examinations and other required activities, and collecting and maintaining data and records for required assessment and reporting.
