About The Position

The Administrative Project Manager serves as the Field Engineer for Parks and Land Bridges across all boroughs, Citywide. This role involves leading one or more engineering divisions or bureaus and overseeing large-scale design and construction projects. The position requires independent judgment in managing and executing engineering programs, acting as a technical consultant on complex engineering matters, and reviewing/approving plans for infrastructure and building construction, repair, or alteration under city, state, or federal jurisdiction. The role also involves representing the agency in high-level meetings, negotiations, and public or interagency forums, supervising teams, and providing strategic leadership on projects with significant creativity, professional competence, or community impact. The Administrative Project Manager may also serve as an Engineer in Charge or Executive Engineer for major programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Serving permanently in the title or be reachable on the open-competitive list exam #5164
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and five years of full-time satisfactory experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering design, and/or construction, or coordinating a very large engineering project, two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity
  • OR A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of experience as described above; two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity
  • OR Education and/or experience equivalent to the above
  • All candidates must have the two years of the administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience

Nice To Haves

  • A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer is preferred
  • 6- years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work
  • At least 2- years of which must have been in an executive, managerial or administrative capacity
  • Possess a motor vehicle driver’s license valid in the state of New York with no restrictions. This license must be maintained throughout the duration of employment in this position.
