About The Position

As an Administrative Program Specialist A, you'll help create a positive first impression for every person who walks through our doors. In this role, you will perform and coordinate routine administrative activities including records management, requisitions, purchase orders, travel, risk management, inventory, mail, and communications. You will maintain familiarity with all LSU AgCenter policies concerning administrative matters and interpret policies in answering inquiries or disseminating approved policy statements. You will also maintain region policies and procedures, keep the region informed of changes/additions to these policies, and assist with training new employees on the AgCenter’s policies and procedures. Ensures office and administrative functions are handled properly and evaluates operations and communicates recommended changes. Coordinates the human resources function of the region for classified employees to include proper documentation for appointments, funding changes, evaluations, and terminations. Oversees the hiring process of all positions, as well as leave and payroll functions. Distributes benefit information. Learns and uses the Enterprise Resource Planning system (Workday) for financial and human resources processing and data needs. This position serves as backup to the Assistant to the Regional Director.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in administrative services, or six years of full-time experience in any field, or a bachelor’s degree.
