About The Position

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) is seeking a motivated Administrative Professional 2 to support the Division of Environmental Response and Revitalization (DERR) at its Central Office in downtown Columbus, Ohio. This role is crucial for implementing meaningful environmental improvements across the state by assisting with remedial and environmental cleanup programs, including the Voluntary Action Program (VAP), enforcement, remediation, brownfields, and engineering and risk assessment. The position involves preparing correspondence, reports, and public notices for formal agency actions, handling project fee collection and processing, and coordinating project closure documents with technical and legal staff. Additionally, the role requires researching, compiling, and organizing information to support division decision-making, managing public records requests, scanning and archiving documents, maintaining files, and supporting records retention activities. The successful candidate will also assist staff with administrative tasks such as database research, stakeholder communication, mail distribution, and inventory management.

Requirements

  • 18 months of experience or 18 months of training in a secretarial/administrative professional field.
  • OR completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from an accredited career school or community college.
  • OR 6 months of experience as an Administrative Professional 1, 16871.
  • OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Support DERR’s remedial and environmental cleanup programs.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and public notices for formal agency actions.

  • Research, compile, and organize information to support the division’s decision-making.
  • Manage public records requests, scan and archive documents, maintain files, and support records retention activities.
