About The Position

The Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) is seeking an Administrative Professional 1 to join the Unit Management team at the Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility. DYS is dedicated to transforming and saving lives by habilitating youth and empowering families and communities, aiming for a safer Ohio. The department serves as the juvenile corrections system for the state, confining felony offenders aged 10-21 committed by county juvenile courts. DYS provides programming to address youth's criminological and behavioral needs, reaching thousands of youth in facilities and on parole. The department's guiding principles include valuing staff as the greatest resource, treating everyone with respect, cultivating a trauma-responsive environment, providing excellent support for youth and families, advancing inclusion, encouraging collaboration, and celebrating successes.

Requirements

• 1 year of training or 1 year of experience in secretarial science or business office applications.
• For positions requiring technical terminology, applicants must also have 6 months of training or 6 months of experience in relevant technical terminology.
• Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Team player.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine administrative tasks such as drafting correspondence, compiling data, answering telephones, and sorting mail.
• Prepare reports, schedules, spreadsheets, and documents.
• Proofread and make corrections to documents.
• Contact courts and schedule all facility trips.
• Maintain records, process youth intakes, and coordinate youth releases.
• Schedule and start virtual meetings for youth with courts.
