About The Position

The Dance Administrative & Office Assistant provides administrative, operational, and event support for the Department of Dance. This position assists faculty and staff with office operations, departmental communications, studio management, recruitment initiatives, and special events. The student assistant serves as a professional representative of the department while helping ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of departmental programs and activities.

Requirements

  • Federal Work-Study eligibility required.
  • Strong computer and technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canvas, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new software platforms and departmental processes quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Professional, dependable, and customer service-oriented.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Department of Dance, including assisting faculty and staff with departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Create, edit, and distribute departmental communications, promotional materials, event flyers, posters, and other marketing resources.
  • Process and manage dance studio reservation requests using university scheduling platforms, including 25Live.
  • Monitor dance studio spaces and assist in maintaining clean, organized, safe, and functional facilities for classes, rehearsals, and events.
  • Assist with inventory management and organization of departmental equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Support faculty and staff with planning, coordination, and execution of classes, performances, auditions, concerts, recruitment events, and special programs.
  • Provide event support, including setup, guest assistance, and operational logistics; occasional evening and weekend availability may be required.
  • Serve as a departmental ambassador by hosting prospective student and family tours, both in person and virtually.
  • Collaborate with the Dance Building & Production Coordinator on facility-related projects and production support needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
