About The Position

Administrative-based interns will focus on various administrative tasks, research, report-making, training and development, leadership, and program management. Interns will be matched with a qualified site supervisor or program manager and supported by Youth Guidance’s Internship coordinator.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a high school diploma, bachelor’s or master’s degree
  • Currently seeking school credit through an internship
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of collaborating in team settings and working independently
  • Demonstrates cultural competency, including an understanding of the effects of institutional racism and systemic oppression on marginalized populations
  • Demonstrates creativity in engaging youth
  • Exhibits a positive team-based approach to treatment and care working with clients
  • Communication: Uses effective written and oral communication with internal staff, teams, and community served; demonstrates empathy and listening
  • Client orientation: Recognizes needs of diverse stakeholders and approaches relationships with a service orientation, to ultimately maximize the impact
  • Equity mindset: Understands and is committed to goals of equity, consistently brings an equity mindset to the organization’s work and workplace
  • Growth mindset: Views growth as important for personal and professional development; seeks out opportunities to expand skills, even if the change is required, demonstrates curiosity and eagerness to learn

Responsibilities

  • Participate in program staff development and required training.
  • Participate in YG committees (may be either required or by choice, depending on department and internship assignment).
  • Project management and execution.
  • Gain hands-on, real-world professional experiences.
  • Check in one-on-one with a supervisor regarding your growth and learning.
  • Develop an understanding of how to build a successful career path.
  • Other duties as assigned.
