About The Position

The Administrative Intern participates in an executive-level, rotational experience designed to provide exposure to the operational, financial, and strategic functions of a multi-hospital health system. Working closely with senior leadership, including hospital operations leaders, the intern supports key initiatives, attend leadership forums, and contribute to system priorities through project-based work. The internship emphasizes hands-on learning, cross-functional collaboration, and development of foundational healthcare leadership competencies. The internship provides opportunities for learning and development in operations management, healthcare strategy, financial stewardship, and quality improvement. The intern participates in a structured rotational experience across multiple departments and completes a capstone project aligned with a current strategic priority, culminating in a presentation to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Graduate student pursuing a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field
  • Strong interest in healthcare leadership and hospital operations
  • High level of professionalism, initiative, and accountability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work with operational, financial, and quality data
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

  • Previous internship, academic project work, or exposure to healthcare operations, administration, or strategy preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned tasks and projects according to established timelines
  • Develop working relationships with leaders and staff across the organization
  • Support development of presentations, reports, and project deliverables
  • Participate in meetings, provide input, and assist with coordination of initiatives
  • Present project work and findings to leadership at the conclusion of the internship
  • Participate in structured rotations across hospital operations, quality & patient safety, finance, human resources, and strategic planning
  • Support operational and strategic initiatives through data analysis, project coordination, and follow-up on action items
  • Attend executive leadership meetings, committees, and system forums to observe enterprise-level decision-making
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including physician and administrative leaders, to understand service line operations and governance
  • Assist in the development of presentations, reports, and dashboards for senior leadership
  • Analyze operational, financial, and quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Participate in leadership rounding, operational meetings, and system initiatives
  • Support preparation and coordination of meetings, including agendas, materials, and documentation
  • Complete a capstone project aligned with organizational priorities and present findings and recommendations to leadership
