The Administrative House Supervisor (Registered Nurse) is responsible for overseeing patient care areas, evaluating staffing needs, and providing support to caregivers. This role collaborates with department charge nurses to manage personnel distribution and utilization during shifts, addressing staffing needs, high census alerts, and floating. The supervisor may provide direct patient care during high volume or emergency situations. As part of the hospital chain of command, they coordinate and evaluate services across all departments, document pertinent information, and serve as a mediator and mentor for staff and customers. They keep supervisors and administrative staff informed of critical situations and patient conditions, ensuring adherence to policies and HIPAA guidelines. The role also involves providing after-hours case management, social service information, coordinating surgery teams, and potentially vascular access services. The supervisor acts as the on-site administrator during emergency operations, completes required in-service education and competencies, and follows protocols for obtaining drugs and equipment when departments are closed. They also coordinate activities related to the body holding area, coroner activities, and organ donation. The position requires responding to all safety codes and emergency situations, participating in quality improvement activities, and promoting positive employee relations by upholding the hospital's mission and values. All activities must comply with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and hospital policies, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
