About The Position

The UT Southwestern Administrative Fellowship prepares recent graduates and early careerists for essential management and leadership roles within the healthcare industry. The format of the program allows fellows to gain direct experience and knowledge and strengthen essential administrative skills. The fellowship is an 18 month-long in person program that includes project ownership and rotational experiences.

Requirements

• Graduate degree from a program which is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), or Council of Education for Public Health (CEPH).
• Relevant work experience inside and outside of healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Observes hospital management and administration to gain perspective on the day to day challenges and decisions faced by an academic and not-for-profit hospitals.
• Completes multiple health system rotations and a diverse set of assignments.
• Interacts with various types of leadership. Builds strong relationships with mentors and senior level executives.
• Works both independently and/or as a member of multidisciplinary team.
• Attends executive meetings, management meetings, and various committees throughout the Health System.
• Participates in and/or leads fundamental projects that support ongoing health system initiatives.
• Coordinates and oversees UT Southwestern Graduate Administrative Internship Program.
• May serve as Interim Supervisor or Manager for a hospital and/or ambulatory department.
• May oversee and supervise other employees.
• Other duties as assigned.
