About The Position

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is seeking to fill one full-time Administrative Coordinator position within our Chief Operating Office located at 150 Henry Avenue in Winnipeg, MB. The MMF is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Administrative Assistant or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ of experience in an Administrative role
  • Experience in a computerized office environment with a proven ability with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and maintain composure in high-pressure situations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities with frequent changes and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet evolving priorities
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in government is considered an asset
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization, boards and committees is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide administrative support and ensure smooth day-to-day departmental operations
  • Prepare, review, and edit correspondence, briefing notes, reports, and presentations
  • Manage complex calendars, meetings, briefings, events, and appointments
  • Coordinate meeting preparation, including agendas, materials, minutes, and follow-up actions
  • Anticipate scheduling and logistical needs and proactively resolve challenges
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, itineraries, and related logistics
  • Organize, scan, photocopy, distribute, and file departmental documents and records
  • Maintain accurate electronic and hard-copy filing, tracking, and record-keeping systems
  • Order office supplies, process purchase orders, and allocate expenses according to budget
