About The Position

This position is located in the Office of Agricultural & Environmental Services - Pesticides Division, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry is seeking an Administrative Coordinator 4 to join our Pesticide and Environmental Programs Division. This division safeguards the health, safety, and welfare of Louisiana’s residents by enforcing regulations on the labeling, sale, distribution, transportation, storage, use, application, and disposal of pesticides across the state. The LDAF's Pesticide and Environmental Programs Division serves to protect the interests, health, safety, and welfare of the Louisiana public through rules and regulations pertaining to the proper labeling, sale, distribution, transportation, storage, use and application, and disposal of pesticides within the state. The Pesticide Inspection & Enforcement Program is responsible for coordinating and managing the activities of pesticide field inspectors and the pesticide enforcement actions that may result from pesticide inspections in the state.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in administrative services.
  • Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of and responsibility for receiving and processing applications for pesticide registration of pesticide products from companies located throughout the United States and abroad.
  • Review applications, product labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) checking for completeness and accuracy of labels and labeling, and for proper fees and compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Serves as initial point of contact for the division on the pesticide product registration program.
  • Evaluates and recommends ways to improve pesticide registration activities; works closely with IT on solving problems and implementing new procedures.
  • Routinely handles confidential files of pesticide registrant company information.
  • Manages the School Pesticide Safety Program by processing the School Pesticide Safety Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Plans submitted annually.
  • Collects data from files or staff for routine inquiries, office program (s), or periodic reports.
  • Prepare special reports according to general directions.
