About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! This position is located at Pamlico Correctional Institution, a medium security prison with adult male offenders. The position’s focus will be assisting the Administrative Specialist I in Personnel by processing and entering staff timesheets on a weekly basis, maintaining the personnel files for approximately 150 staff. This position will schedule position interviews, complete hiring packages, assist with job fairs and hiring events. They will also run daily, weekly, and monthly reports and meet expected deadlines. They will assist with educating staff on available benefits and department services. The Administrative Associate II serves as the backup for Administrative Specialist I and will be able to complete Leave of Absence and Separation packages in their absence. This position requires frequent contact with staff through office appointments, emails and telephone calls. They will maintain spreadsheets to track positions, staff data and timesheets.

Requirements

  • Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Produce a negative drug screening result
  • Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
