About The Position

This position is located at Roanoke River Correctional Institution, a medium and minimum custody facility. This position reports to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor and will provide clerical support to the facility maintenance department. The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Skilled in use of MS Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain maintenance files/records according to departmental policy allowing quick, easy access and retrieval of information upon request.
  • Compose memos/letters with limited instructions from supervisor, proofreading documents for spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Input and comprehend computer-generated data and must be skilled in use of MS Word and Excel.
  • Review completed tasks to ensure accuracy/integrity of information.
  • Manage accounts payable for the maintenance department.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Procurement Card purchases as well as reconciling the Procurement Cards accounts within a timely manner.
  • Meet daily and monthly reporting deadlines and conduct minutes for monthly meeting.
  • Receive and process maintenance orders of equipment and materials needed to complete work orders.
  • Create, monitor, and close work orders.
  • Work independently and in close proximity with inmates and other staff.
  • Assist management staff, when directed, with other additional clerical duties as needed assistance in other departments.
