About The Position

LOFT Community Services is a unique and dynamic charitable organization that supports people living with complex issues such as mental and physical health challenges, substance use challenges, poverty and homelessness. Serving 20,573 annually and providing 1,856 units of supportive housing last year, LOFT is one of Ontario’s largest mental health service providers of its kind. LOFT is also recognized as a Nonprofit Employer of Choice™ Award (NEOC) recipient. Assisted Living – College View is a partnership with Toronto Seniors Housing Co. providing 24/7 assisted living services to vulnerable older adults and seniors living with complex needs. The program serves over 100 clients in the Downtown East Toronto OHT. Assisted Living – College View serving 75 residents in the building, while also providing services to clients in the wider community, primarily by referral through the Crisis Outreach Services for Seniors program. The program works with each client on an individualized client care plan based on their wants, needs, and strengths. Moreover, LOFT staff utilize a standardized assessment tool called the RAICHA to highlight and mitigate risk for decline in the client’s health. LOFT case managers work with clients to identify and mitigate barriers that affect their physical and mental health, integrating social determinants of health into their practice. Assisted Living – Simon provides 24/7 assisted living services to vulnerable older adults and seniors living with complex needs. The program serves over 41 clients within a 1km radius of 32 Grenville St. as well as an additional 31 clients through Mobile Hub and Spoke services to the wider community. The program works with each client on an individualized client care plan based on their wants, needs, and strengths. Moreover, LOFT staff utilize a standardized assessment tool called the RAICHA to highlight and mitigate risk for decline in the client’s health. LOFT case managers work with clients to identify and mitigate barriers that affect their physical and mental health, integrating social determinants of health into their practice.

Requirements

  • Must be a youth ages between 15 to 30 years of age and eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs program.
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.
  • Have a valid SIN

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, key in, edit, and proofread correspondence, invoices, presentations, brochures, publications, reports, and related materials
  • Process materials from machine dictation and handwritten copy
  • Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail and electronic communications
  • Coordinate the flow of information internally and with other departments or organizations
  • Schedule and confirm appointments and meetings
  • Order office supplies and maintain inventory levels
  • Answer telephone and electronic inquiries and relay calls and messages
  • Set up and maintain manual and computerized filing systems
  • Determine and establish office procedures and administrative processes
  • Greet visitors, identify the nature of their inquiry, and direct them to the appropriate person or department
  • Record and prepare minutes of meetings
  • Arrange travel schedules and make reservations
  • Compile data, statistics, and other information to support research activities
  • Supervise and train office staff on procedures and software usage, as required
  • Organize conferences, meetings, and other administrative events
