About The Position

Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Executive Director and Director(s). This role involves managing student workers, coordinating office events, overseeing purchases, maintaining databases, disseminating assignments, performing monthly reconciliations, acting as a liaison for student-related issues, maintaining LPCC websites, attending departmental meetings, and managing calendars. The position requires adherence to Liberty University policies and fostering a Christian model and Mission.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree, with a concentration in human resources, business management or a related field, and experience in student development or related function is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of student issues and educational trends, as they relate to higher education, required.
  • Well-developed communications skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent purchasing systems and computer skills.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

  • Experience in student development or related function is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage student workers – training, scheduling, etc.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating office events – This includes, but is not limited to, groups, services, meetings, expos, travel, etc.
  • Oversee office purchases, supplies/instructional, etc.
  • Assist in strategizing, creating, and maintaining databases for student support initiatives.
  • Help in dissemination of assignments to various sectors of the office that flow in from various external offices via e-mail or Beacon.
  • Responsible for monthly reconciliations for Executive Director and Director.
  • Act as liaison to faculty, staff and administration in regard to student-related problems.
  • Maintain LPCC website(s).
  • Attend departmental meetings and assist with various administrative duties.
  • Maintain calendar for Executive Director and Director.
  • Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.
