The Administrative Assistant/Receptionist is responsible for coordinating patient flow, greeting patients, ensuring they are registered and have completed new patient packets. This role involves scanning pertinent documents, verifying insurance coverage, setting appointments, collecting copays and balances, and optimizing patient satisfaction. The assistant will keep appointments on schedule by notifying providers of patient arrivals, comfort patients by anticipating anxieties and answering questions, and maintain a clean and organized reception area. Responsibilities also include maintaining patient accounts with updated personal and financial information, recording and collecting patient charges, responding to emergencies, and maintaining the confidentiality of patient information. The role requires adherence to policies and procedures, reporting needed changes, and the ability to handle multiple duties simultaneously. The employee is responsible for protecting the physician's license, maintaining confidentiality of all information, and staying in compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, OSHA, HIPAA, OIG, and other legal/contractual obligations.
