This position assists in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department, which involves processing payroll, preparation of government reports, maintenance of filing systems, assisting with contracts, the department budget, time cards, typing correspondence, and any other related duties as required by the department. The work requires the application of independent judgment, as well as clerical, receptionist, and secretarial abilities. A working knowledge of the principles and practices of modern public administration is necessary, along with skill in the operation of a personal computer, telephone, copy machine, scanner, and general maintenance of records. The ability to maintain an effective working relationship with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public, as well as communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, is essential.
