About The Position

Working under the direction of the Undergraduate Programs Coordinator, the Student Administrative Assistant provides administrative, data tracking, communications, and event support for the School of Public Affairs undergraduate programs. This position assists with enrollment and retention tracking, preparation of reports and communications, maintenance of program records and event materials, support for the undergraduate recruitment and engagement activities, and research projects related to undergraduate academic programs. The student employee will develop professional skills while contributing to the success of SPA students and programs.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at AU-SPA.
  • Good academic standing with a strong GPA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with research methodologies and data analysis.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference may be given to students enrolled in the School of Public Affairs.
  • Preference may be given to students with Federal Work Study awards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Undergraduate Programs Coordinator with data tracking, collection, and reporting related to course enrollments, undergraduate deposits and retention metrics.
  • Assist with compiling, organizing, and summarizing data for reports and presentations.
  • Support research on BA+BS to JD programs within the Washington, DC metropolitan area and peer institutions.
  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of undergraduate resource guides, publications, and presentation materials.
  • Develop content for social media pages, promotional brochures, flyers, and other communication materials for upcoming events.
  • Create and maintain tacking spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel; draft and edit email communications and other correspondence using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Provide general administrative support for undergraduate program initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating undergraduate recruitment, advising, and student engagement events.
  • Support event logistics, including registration management, timeline development, room setup, and material preparation.
  • Update event planning documents and track event-related tasks.
  • Capture photos and videos for use in marketing and promotional materials, in accordance with university policies.
