About The Position

Processes administrative duties for Chief Juvenile Probation Officer (CJPO). Responsibilities may include screening calls, managing calendars; making travel arrangements, meeting and event arrangements, preparing reports and financial data, training and supervising other support staff and customer relations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists CJPO with preparing reports, budgets, and correspondence. Completes quarterly budget report in TJJD Grant Manager Responsible for working with county auditors to invoice, transfer, and maintain fiscal accountability of Departmental funds. Assists CJPO with collecting and maintaining information for statistical reports for the TJJD and Juvenile Board. Assists secretaries with the collection of monies from juveniles, including issuing receipts, and holding money until deposited by Assistant CJPO. Enters payments of fees, restitution, court costs and attorney fees into the computer. Maintains office equipment and supplies for department including contacting repair vendors, making work orders, and purchasing supplies. Regular and consistent attendance is required. Must arrive at work on time, prepared to perform assigned duties and work assigned schedule.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma, or its equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Obtain and maintain TJJD certificates/requirements.
  • Computers, Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, Microsoft Access, standard office practices and procedures; and general bookkeeping practices.
  • Operate office equipment such as copy machine and facsimile machine.
  • Read manuals and memos.
  • Write messages, letters, and memos.
  • Perform mathematical calculations.
  • Perform bookkeeping functions.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.

  • Some college preferred.
