About The Position

This position provides key support for appeals, reentry initiatives, vital documents, and programming within the Reentry Department at Westville Correctional Facility. The role ensures accurate and timely documentation, maintains compliance with IDOC policies, coordinates communication across departments and external agencies, and assists with tracking program participation and offender records. Westville Correctional Facility is a multi-level security facility located in Westville, Indiana, with a capacity of over 3,400 incarcerated adult males. It offers programs focused on education, re-entry, and community service, with partnerships that allow incarcerated individuals to develop vocational and academic skills.

Requirements

  • Specialized knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of administrative management.
  • Working knowledge of state governmental administrative structure.
  • Working knowledge of assigned program area.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and multitask.
  • Ability to coordinate and motivate professional and support personnel.
  • Ability to communicate, both orally and verbally, with diverse public.
  • Attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to establish cooperative work relationships.
  • Ability to analyze, update and write procedures and policies.
  • At least 5+ years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced administrative support to an agency, department, or facility.
  • Reviews the organizational structure and functions of assigned program area to recommend changes to promote effectiveness.
  • Administers staff functions in support of program area.
  • Aids program administrator in applying agency or department policies and procedures.
  • Represents program administrator in meetings with representatives of other agencies and the interested public to explain and interpret program goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepares, evaluates, and maintains administrative reports, policies, and procedures for different program areas.
