About The Position

Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Engineering Department Chair, faculty, staff, students, and associated stakeholders within the Department of Engineering. The Engineering Administrative Assistant serves as the primary administrative coordinator for departmental operations, financial transactions, personnel processes, scheduling, events, student support activities, and external partnerships. This position requires a high degree of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to proactively anticipate departmental needs. The incumbent must effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining excellent customer service and fostering positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, industry partners, and the broader university community. The Engineering Department includes bachelor's degree programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering, as well as an Associate degree in Pre-Engineering, related minors, and certificates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or two year’s office experience with a high school diploma/GED with some college coursework and/or a post-secondary certificate.
  • Experience with financial recordkeeping, purchasing, budget tracking, and payroll processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and ternal stakeholders.
  • Experience posting to social media and proficiency in digital design software, video editing, photo editing, and flyer design.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an engineering, STEM, or higher education environment.
  • Experience with university administrative systems such as Banner, Argos, CourseLeaf, or EMS.
  • Experience supporting grants, accreditation activities, or academic programs.
