JOB GOAL: Profile of a Natick Educator To assure smooth and efficient operation of the school principal's office by performing a variety of routine and complex clerical, secretarial and administrative tasks; keeping official records, providing administrative support to the principal and staff so that the office's maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as word processing, filing, and bookkeeping.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the professional, efficient and courteous operation of the main office.
  • Provide assistance to employees and applicants by answering questions in person, email, or by telephone; provide information relative to school district policies and procedures; refer individuals to appropriate sources as required and respond tactfully and politely to requests and/or complaints.
  • Excellent human relations skills required.
  • Ability to work collegially and cooperatively with all constituencies within the school community is essential.
  • Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing
  • Working knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work and a variety of jobs in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Performs all routine clerical and administrative work in answering telephones, receiving the public, data processing, and bookkeeping.
  • Answers in-coming calls and routes callers or provides information as required.
  • Receives the public and answers questions
  • Responds to inquiries and refers, when necessary, to appropriate persons, and screens unexpected callers in accordance with predetermined policy.
  • Maintains a log of visitors to the school.
  • Operates listed office equipment as required.
  • Receives, stamps and distributes incoming mail, processes outgoing mail.
  • Is responsible for preparation of correspondence, reports, notices, recommendations, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Types a variety of material, such as letters, student records, reports, memos, monthly statements, etc. from rough drafts or corrected copy.
  • Maintains such student records as required.
  • Establishes and maintains filing systems, control records and indexes using moderate independent judgment.
  • Maintains a daily teacher attendance log and records for substitute teachers.
  • Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials when requested by building principal.
  • Processes all changes and adjustments in student schedules.
  • Maintains inventories and orders office and classroom supplies and materials.
  • Schedules appointments and makes arrangements for conferences and interviews for the principal.
  • Performs any required bookkeeping tasks and other administrative and clerical duties as required.
  • Assists with nurse's callback and first-aid log recordings.
  • Maintains school website.
  • Willingness and ability to help other co-workers as needed.
  • Any other relative duties as assigned.
