About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 4 – Graduate Medical Education (GME) Coordinator within the School of Medicine. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The GME Coordinator provides administrative and operational support for one or more residency and/or fellowship programs, working closely with program leadership, residents, fellows, faculty, and the GME Office. The position supports accreditation and compliance, recruitment, trainee records and evaluations, scheduling, onboarding and credentialing, educational activities, fiscal processes, and program operations. The GME Coordinator serves as a key resource for trainees and faculty and helps ensure programs meet ACGME, institutional, state, and specialty board requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources.
  • One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Responsibilities

  • Supports daily administration and operations of assigned residency and/or fellowship programs.
  • Monitors compliance with ACGME, institutional, state, specialty board, and program requirements.
  • Maintains trainee and faculty records, including rotations, schedules, work hours, evaluations, scholarly activities, licensure, and credentialing.
  • Coordinates evaluation and assessment activities, including Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) and Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) meetings and required reporting.
  • Supports recruitment, onboarding, orientation, credentialing, licensure, and training verification processes.
  • Coordinates program communications, educational activities, didactics, meetings, and events.
  • Maintains GME databases and assists with required data submissions, reports, program materials, and websites.
  • Serves as a liaison between trainees, faculty, program leadership, the GME Office, clinical training sites, and other internal and external partners.
  • Supports program fiscal activities, including payments, reimbursements, memberships, purchasing, and budget tracking.
  • Participates in program improvement activities and maintains knowledge of current GME requirements and institutional policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
