About The Position

This position provides a full range of professional support to the Office of Indian Affairs in the Governor’s Office. It is responsible for a wide variety of administrative support functions, including records management, support for meetings, making travel arrangements, and drafting official correspondence and reports according to general directives from the Director of Indian Affairs. This role serves as the front-line contact for the office, handling calls, emails, and walk-in customers, and provides program support regarding tribal issues and activities throughout the state. Additionally, this position assists with the planning and coordination of conferences and special events, including the annual Tribal Relations Training conference.

Requirements

  • Highly developed organizational skills
  • Proficiency in the use of office equipment
  • Proficient at an advanced level in Microsoft Word
  • Proficient at an advanced level in Outlook
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to mediate sensitive or contentious communications
  • Ability to maintain effective working relations with office staff, other state agencies, tribal representatives, and members of the public
  • Ability to build trust and credibility in working relationships
  • Ability to determine priorities in a changing environment and adjust workload accordingly
  • Ability to handle confidential information requiring discretion and good judgment
