About The Position

Truckee Meadows Community College is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 2 for the Adult Basic Education Department. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. This position will provide program support by assisting all past, current, or future students, instructors, visitors, and guests in person, on the phone or through email, communicate the program’s services, eligibility requirements, general information and refer as needed to appropriate personnel, set-up appointments for students for program activities, meet with the program director, coordinators, specialists, and associates. This position will perform administrative duties in support of the Adult Basic Education Department, arrange internal meetings; route mail, answer front desk telephones and handle routine items not requiring the Coordinators or Director's attention, receive and inventory orders, perform regular office supplies inventory and submit supplies orders to maintain sufficient supplies at predetermined levels, take minutes at all staff meetings and distribute to attendees, maintain student records and perform reports to increase outreach and student recruitment efforts. This position will organize all aspects of the program’s intake, orientation and registration processes, ensure sufficient staff for each activity, schedule part-time workers monthly hours, recruit, hire, supervise, train, and evaluate up to 5 part-time workers, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education.
  • Two (2) years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff.
  • OR One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service.
  • OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Responsibilities
