As an Administrative Assistant 1, you will have the opportunity to provide administrative support for agency operations while also coordinating the Court Facility Dog Program to support children, families, and victims throughout the judicial process and community outreach initiatives.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • Proof of pairing with a facility dog and training through an Assistance Dogs International (ADI)-accredited organization to work in a pre-arranged facility and/or accompany clients in public settings. The training must be completed no later than (6) months from the date of your application.
  • A minimum of one year of documented full-time experience acting as a facility service dog handler, including responsibility for the dog's handling, routine care, behavior management in public settings, and coordination within a secure or regulated facility environment. Documented experience includes paid employment, volunteering, or self-employment.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Submission of criminal history reports (conditional offer of employment).
  • Drug screening (conditional offer of employment).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily administrative tasks, document preparation, and office operations
  • Manage calls, greet visitors, and support staff with information and updates
  • Maintain files, update databases, and ensure accurate tracking of agency documents
  • Organize visit schedules, maintain records, and support court and community activities involving the facility dog
  • Oversee the dog's well-being, grooming, appointments, and behavior monitoring
  • Represent the dog program during outreach activities and maintain required handler training
