About The Position

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Alaska Military Youth Academy (AMYA), is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 1 position. This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range . This position is open to Alaska Residents only. As AMYA's Administrative Assistant, you will provide essential administrative support to ensure the efficient day-to-day operations of the AMYA Headquarters and Support Services Office. Working closely with the Director, Deputy Director, and Administrative Officer 2, this position plays a key role in supporting AMYA's operations and organizational success. The mission of the AMYA ChalleNGe Program is to empower Alaska’s at-risk youth by providing a transformative experience that instills core values, essential life skills, academic achievement, and the self-discipline needed to thrive as productive adults. Every team member plays a vital role in shaping futures and driving this mission forward.

Requirements

  • Six months of advanced clerical experience. This experience includes work such as Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.
  • Six months of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience. (Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.)
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment while maintaining the ability to respond to emergency situations involving "at-risk" youth and/or their families.
  • Must be able to work well with a broad spectrum of the public.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access.
  • Must be able to maintain the clearance throughout employment.
  • If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License, proof of vehicle insurance, and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) in some cases.
