About The Position

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Administrative Procedures Specialist in our Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: Maintaining and monitoring Civil and Applicant Records Exchange (CARE) accounts, receivables, charge accounts, audits, and the Non-Criminal Justice Interface (NCJI).

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of State and Federal non-criminal justice laws.
  • Working knowledge of research and analysis techniques.
  • Working knowledge of State and federal criminal history databases.
  • Working knowledge of Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
  • Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications and other computer software and/or programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to access, retrieve, and interpret State and Federal automated records.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply research and analytical methodology in the interpretation of criminal arrest and disposition information.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, collect, and analyze data for various statistical reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policy, procedures, regulations, and the laws of CARE operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand state and federal laws pertaining to dissemination of criminal record information and Barrier Crime statutes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and train staff when supervision is out of the office.
  • Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified which requires either United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a criminal justice or public safety environment dealing with confidential information preferred.
  • Experience working in customer service preferred.
