About The Position

As the Administrative Assistant, you will perform a variety of secretarial duties, administrative tasks, statistical reporting, coordinate volunteers, and oversee property use and upkeep, ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative, clerical, or office support experience preferred
  • Experience providing receptionist/customer service and working with the public
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, email, data entry, electronic records, and general office equipment
  • Experience handling cash, deposits, invoices, and basic financial documentation preferred
  • Experience maintaining confidential personnel, client, and organizational records
  • Experience preparing correspondence, reports, meeting agendas, and minutes
  • Ability to organize multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and work independently with limited supervision
  • Professional experience working with volunteers, families, community partners, or nonprofit programs preferred
  • Familiarity with church, nonprofit, social-service, or community-based organizations is a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard
  • Must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Corps Officer
  • Answer phones, emails, and general correspondence
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and maintain calendars
  • Prepare letters, reports, forms, and meeting materials
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper files
  • Assist with data entry, recordkeeping, and program documentation
  • Support volunteer, Advisory Board, and community-partner communications
  • Assist with social media, flyers, newsletters, and community outreach
  • Help coordinate special events, programs, and seasonal activities
  • Track office supplies and assist with routine purchasing
  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee, and organizational information
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership
