About The Position

This position involves teaching mathematics and computer science courses, either synchronously or asynchronously, utilizing current technology. The role requires collaboration with faculty on course design and ensuring that course content, activities, and assignments meet established guidelines. The instructor will be responsible for maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment, adhering to university policies, and communicating effectively with department leadership and faculty.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mathematics or Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching at the college level.
  • Proficiency in current educational technologies.
  • Ability to teach synchronous or asynchronous courses.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty.
  • Knowledge of course design principles.
  • Understanding of student-centric learning environments.
  • Adherence to professional standards and ethics.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics or Computer Science.
  • Experience with online course development and delivery.
  • Experience with various learning management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Teach synchronous or asynchronous courses using current technology applicable to the discipline, which may include face-to-face, online, and/or video-conferenced courses as needed.
  • Collaborate with Math and Computer Science faculty on course design and appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners.
  • Ensure course content, activities, and assignments are established, including syllabus, course policies, video lectures, assignments and instructions, and grading rubrics.
  • Meet all designated course instruction guidelines, including posting weekly announcements, monitoring discussions, grading student coursework within 72 hours, providing timely feedback, responding to student inquiries within 24 hours, and maintaining weekly virtual office hours.
  • Maintain frequent and open communication with the Math & Computer Science Chair, faculty, and staff.
  • Submit mid-term and end-of-term grades by the required deadline according to WNMU procedures.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment that supports success by enforcing WNMU policies and those established by the Math & Computer Science Department and Office of Academic Affairs.
  • Model professional standards and ethics in accordance with WNMU and the Math & Computer Science Department mission and vision statements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
