About The Position

This position involves teaching a 3-credit-hour course covering the fundamentals of human persuasion and sales in the early stages of business. The course will teach students the skills used by accomplished salespeople to navigate the sales process, understand purchase decisions, and develop effective selling strategies. It will also cover persuasion strategies for raising capital, recruiting employees, establishing partnerships, and emphasize the importance of ethics and creativity in selling. The role includes designing course materials, delivering classroom instruction, mentoring students, managing assessments and grading, and supporting course learning outcomes over a 14-week semester.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, completed by the start date.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of directly relevant entrepreneurial and professional experience in the subject area of the course.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • All employees are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and manage a 3-credit-hour course covering the fundamentals of human persuasion and sales.
  • Teach the skills used by accomplished salespeople to navigate the different stages of the sales process.
  • Help students develop an understanding of purchase decisions and their role in effective selling.
  • Cover persuasion strategies related to raising capital, recruiting and motivating employees, and establishing partnerships.
  • Teach the importance of ethics and creativity throughout the selling process.
  • Design and prepare course materials in coordination with the full-time faculty coordinator.
  • Deliver classroom instruction.
  • Mentor students outside of class.
  • Manage student assessments and grading with assistance from teaching assistants and the faculty coordinator.
  • Support achievement of course learning outcomes.
  • Teach a 14-week semester course consisting of approximately 28 class sessions.
